The next RCQ round starts in December
Wizards of the Coast has outlined the third Regional Championship Qualifier round for the 2026–27 season. It runs from 11 December 2026 through 28 March 2027, giving players a new window to qualify for Regional Championships and, ultimately, the Pro Tour. The announcement also adds a Bilbao stop to the EMEA Regional Championship schedule for the Pro Tour at MagicCon: Tokyo.
At WPN stores, qualifiers in this round may use Standard Constructed or Sealed Deck. Larger destination qualifiers may offer other Constructed formats, while Limited product can vary across the round as new sets release. Players should check the format and product with their local organiser before travelling or registering.
Four promo treatments for qualifiers and championships
Every player taking part in a third-round RCQ is slated to receive a borderless, non-foil Strategic Betrayal promo, illustrated by Ian Permana. Top finishers are also due a borderless, non-foil Archenemy’s Charm by Bene Rohlmann; players who qualify for a Regional Championship receive a traditional-foil version of Archenemy’s Charm.
Wizards separately confirmed the promo for the current Modern Regional Championship round: a non-foil textless Kozilek’s Command for all participants, with traditional-foil copies for top finishers. That round runs through 1 November and feeds Pro Tour Nauctis, scheduled for 26–28 February 2027.
Bilbao joins the road to MagicCon: Tokyo
The next Regional Championship round will use Standard and award an Elspeth, Storm Slayer promo to every participant, with traditional-foil copies for top finishers. Top finishers earn invitations to the Pro Tour at MagicCon: Tokyo, scheduled for 14–16 May 2027. The EMEA event, hosted by Fanfinity, is set for 12–14 February in Bilbao, Spain.
Other announced stops include St. Louis, San Diego, Vancouver, Melbourne, Mexico City and Shanghai, with some locations listed as dates to be determined. Promotional cards are available while supplies last, and Wizards says regional availability may differ. For European players, Bilbao is the key new calendar detail; the exact event format, registration and venue information should be confirmed with Fanfinity as it becomes available.
