A second chance after the troubled launch
Wizards of the Coast says everyone who orders Secret Lair x MSCHF: The Zeta Set during its new December window will have their order fulfilled. The 1 October announcement follows a disrupted September sale.
The earlier apology left customers waiting for an investigation and help with uncertain orders. This follow-up gives collectors a concrete decision to make: wait for another opportunity, or keep an existing order for the earlier shipment.
Two batches, different timetables
Original orders are estimated to start shipping on 5 November in North America and 8 December in the UK and Europe. Customers keeping those orders need take no action. Anyone wanting to cancel should submit a support ticket by the deadline above; missing confirmations should also go to support.
December buyers face the later estimate shown in the key details. Treat a shipping estimate as the start of dispatch, rather than a promised arrival date. Before committing, consider whether a long preorder fits your plans, especially if the purchase is intended as a gift.
What collectors are buying
The original product announcement describes one seven-card Zeta Booster drawn from a pool of 121 cards. Its photocopied visual style looks back to Magic’s early playtesting, with artwork developed by MSCHF. A pack contains three commons, two uncommons, a wildcard of any rarity, and a rare or mythic rare.
That makes this a randomised opening experience. The word “Set” in the product name does not mean the envelope contains the complete collection. Anyone interested in a particular illustration should weigh that uncertainty against the pleasure of opening a pack; the two are different reasons to buy.
What remains to be confirmed
The October update does not specify the new sale’s opening hour, UK price or purchase limits. Check the eventual regional listing before ordering.
For players, this is a purchasing announcement, not a substitute for checking a deck’s legality. For collectors, the useful comparison is between the actual items and delivery terms on offer. A resale asking price alone cannot tell you what a collection is worth or where prices will go.
